A huge & ornamental silk damask gold lame' art deco era shawl that measures 51" x 53" with 2 inner strap bands. This is the most stunningly beautiful & finest quality craftsmanship I have ever seen!! It may have come from Paris & looks like some of the Oriental wares that were manufactured by Liberty & Co. London. Liberty & Co. was one of the first to adopt the art nouveau style. They opened a branch in Paris in 1890 & it closed in 1932 & for a brief time (1932-1933) they had Paul Poiret designing for them. Now, back to the item, I can find no sign of a label so I can't say this is from Liberty, but I can tell you the quality is the same. To the touch, it is rich, to the eye, breathtaking, in a vibrant array of colors (royal blue, teal blue & baby blue all weaved with this gold lame' metallic thread & black background. Just as stunning from the front or back side!! Excellent to near mint I found 1 tiny flaw, a eraser tip size mark (pictured in the last photo) A remarkably priceless piece of art deco for the serious collector to display & enjoy.

A captivating wedding gown (or as info with dress states it was used as a graduation dress from circa 1890s). A silk wool blend fabric, lovingly hand stitched ruching at the neck & upper back bodice, & sleeves with the added touch of fine silk ribbon ruffles. Feminine puff shoulders & vertical pleated bodice & back. 19 hook & eye closures (5 hooks missing), 3 snaps at the top of shoulder. Fully lined in cotton, boning under front closure. A few minor holes, pencil tip to slightly larger (don't really show due to same color lining). A couple fingertip spots at sleeves & back (not very noticeable due to ruching) No underarm issues. 29 bust 22 waist Skirt: small bustling at rear with a inner elastic across the rear. Fully lined in cotton except for at the hem a nine inch heavy muslin fabric & velvet trim with a inner silk hem lining. 3 rows of ruffle tiers at the hem line. A stunning shade of gray watered silk (silk moiré) with lace & velvet bodice, sleeves & back. Pin tucks at the shoulders, 7 boned corset lining with a tag from Marshal Field Co. from Chicago. Ten alternating side front hooks, lining of the bodice has badly deteriorated, some soiled areas at the lace cuffs, 3 1/2" seam split at the left elbow, & fingerprint size spot at the elbow. 1 1/2" split at right elbow, 3 1/2 split at the back of right shoulder, underarm perspiration marks & slight breakage. One the skirt small breakage none larger than 2" smaller than 1", none really stand out, the lining has severe breakage, pin tuck pleated hem, & small bustle. I believe most of the issues at the seams could be repaired. Is in great condition & would make a wonderful display piece for any collector. Note: this dress is a little small for my form would look much nicer on a smaller form. 26 waist 32 bust 42-44" length skirt
