A Victorian high society Belle Epoque "Beautiful Era" dress. A majestic silver gray moire watered silk with a finely ribbed texture. Lavishly adorned at the bodice (front & back) with an opulent array of beads, featuring 6 large set opals (3 at the front & 3 at the back). These appear to be real opals, but I cannot be sure. Soft pale pink silk velvet at the waist, neck & trim areas. Delicate creamy lace draped at the bust. Floral lace at the sleeves, trimmed with ruffles & velvet. Fully lined & boned bodice with attached petersham, stamped "Chicago" then I can't make out the rest. Excellent sound & sturdy condition, no splitting or breakage. The only real issue with this is the soiling at the back & at one armscye area. It looks as if the color from the brown lining may have bled onto the back, so maybe it can be removed with a special cleaning technique. You will find the velvet at the neck is a slightly lighter shade then at the waist & then some minor soiling & wear at the cuffs. These are very minor & do not detract from the overall appearance of this fabulous high society dress. The skirt is trimmed in a feminine ruffles. Fully lined in the same brown fabric. Has a pleated & lace ruffle at the hem spanning the back & sides, & then a velvet trim all the way around the hem. Two hook & eye closures at the waist followed by three large snaps. Excellent condition, I found two pea sized pink spots, it appears to be lipstick so maybe this will remove. A simply elegant & rare, circa 1820s-1830s silk dress in amazing condition. In a lovely autumn brown silk, that has a stunning changeable quality in the light. Featuring detailed piping, pleated bodice & the integral high waist of this era.(8" down from neck). Very long & graceful leg-of-mutton (gigot) sleeves. Nine hammered brass hook & eye closures at the upper back with more detailed piping & pleating. Painstakingly well done top stitching at the seams & of course all lovingly hand sewn from top to bottom. Bodice is lined in a heavy cream cotton/linen canvas fabric. As I said this piece is in amazing condition for this era but not without a few minor flaws. One fingertip spot near waistline, a few tiny scattered spots (that you have to look for because they tend to fall within the folds of the dress. One eraser size L shape split under sleeve & a few pin size to penciltip size holes, & 1 repair at right front bodice, (see picture). Upon close inspection, this dress has been let down at the waist at some point about a 1/2". None of these minor age flaws detract from the beauty of this dress.(Im just trying to be very accurate in my description) The truest color of this dress are in the last pictures. This dress is in excellent sound & sturdy condition & would be a lovely attribute to any collection!

Rare & Captivating Regency Era Eggplant Silk Damask Dress A breathtakingly beautiful silk damask dress from circa 1830s-40s. Constructed of a soft silk fabric, in a rich shade of eggplant, having a most captivating design of lovely floral bouquets consisting of four different varieties of flowers & fanned palm leaves. Featuring a snug, meticulously, pleated upper arm with two bands of piping, ballooning out into a large elegant gigot sleeve, ending snugly again at the wrist with more pleats & piping, then fastening at the wrist with three buttons. The bodice is lined in a creamy polished cotton canvas fabric, has five inner stays, & has padding at the sides of the bust area. Hook & eye front closures at the bodice, & two velvet buttons under the ruffles. Two layers of sweet trailing ruffles at the front skirt portion. Belted with a plush floral velvet sash. The inner lining of the skirt portion consists of 2 different fabrics, 1 side panel of a brown polished cotton, rear unlined, other side lined in a solid eggplant quilted fabric with button holes. Detailed at the back with a double layer of piping. This dress is in sound & excellent condition, the only issues are some fading due to sun at the hemline & one sleeve, & some minor wear at the hemline. Any question please feel free to ask.
